Dear Parishioners of Immaculate Conception, It is with great sorrow that we share the news of Fr. Jimmy Jeanfreau’s death. He died in a tragic accident sometime last night and was found this morning by members of the Immaculate Conception school staff. The community will gather this evening at 6 pm in the church for a prayer vigil. All are welcome to join to pray together as a community that all may feel God’s love and mercy in this tragedy. This is indeed a shock. Please know you are in our prayers as we ask you to join us in prayer for the repose of Fr. Jimmy’s soul and for his family. Please remember in prayer all those who mourn Fr. Jimmy in our archdiocese as well as around the world.
We invite you to answer the call from the Archdiocese of New Orleans to pray for priests daily. Each month, you will receive a calendar with the names of a priest printed on it for each day. Sometimes the day will be the priest's birthday. A prayer will be provided. or you may pray on your own. Let us join as a community to PRAY FOR PRIESTS. Calendars will be available each month beginning this month and will be either online or can be picked up in the church's foyer. Thank you.
Starting this Saturday, November 20th, and Sunday, November 21st, there will be statues of the Immaculate Conception available to be taken home with families who sign up to keep the statue for a week. During this week, Father Jimmy asks that the families pray together at least once a day in the presence of the statue. At the end of each week, the statue will go to a new family based on the signup sheets at each mass. Father Jimmy and Deacon Jim have also come up with a special novena prayer for the Immaculate Conception in preparation for the 100th anniversary in 2024. These novenas will be made available to everyone!
